Newspaper records can be confusing to navigate. A single newspaper can have multiple records, and a new record is made every time that newspaper changes its title, publication frequency, location of publication, ownership or focus. Complementary to title essays, which explain these changes in paragraph form, project staff have added visual diagrams to explain how multiple records relate to one another. Here is a reference guide, and individual title change diagrams can be found in the “Title Change” column on the Project Newspapers page. Stay tuned as more diagrams are added to the list!
