The National Digital Newspaper Program in Ohio (NDNP-OH) was established in 2008. It is part of the National Digital Newspaper Program, a competitive grant program funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities and managed by the Library of Congress, which is a long-term effort to preserve and provide increased access to America’s historic newspapers via Chronicling America. This Library of Congress website is freely available and contains over 21 million pages of historic newspapers covering 1789-1963 from 47 U.S. states and territories. Eventually, all U.S. states and territories will have contributed content to Chronicling America.

To date, NDNP-OH has contributed over 520,000 keyword-searchable pages of Ohio’s historic newspapers to this website. Ohio’s Chronicling America collection covers 1834-1959 and includes about 175 titles or title families from 64 counties around the state.
