Our 2016-2018 selection list has been finalized! Over the next 14 months, we will be adding 19 titles to Chronicling America covering 1834-1959 and representing German, Hungarian German, Czech, Lithuanian, Polish, Romanian, Serbo-Croatian, Slovak and Slovenian communities in Ohio.

Advisory board meeting at the Ohio History Center in Columbus. Board members made tentative selections for which papers will be digitized for the 2016-2018 grant cycle and provided guidance on initial planning for the grant’s outreach projects.
NDNP-OH staff presented “German Language Newspapers at the Ohio History Connection” as part of the German Community Forum Series held at the Columbus Metropolitan Library in partnership with the Ohio Chapter of the Palatines to America German Genealogy Society.
The Ohio History Connection has selected Northern Micrographics as its vendor for microfilm digitization and metadata creation services for the 2016-2018 grant cycle.

Advisory board meeting at the Ohio History Center in Columbus. Board members learned about the National Digital Newspaper Program and Ohio’s participation to date as well as 2016-2018 project goals. NDNP-OH staff provided newspaper selection instructions. The board also chose the sample reel: Ohio Waisenfreund series (Pomeroy, Meigs County), 1873-1875.
